Definition of Equestrian
The equestrian adjective is
used to refer to that linked to horses : perisodáctilos animals used
as draft beasts or mount that are characterized by their long limbs and their
tail with abundant bristles. The term comes from the Greek word hippikós.
Horse riding
is the set of sports that are based on the use of horses. These
can be dressage , horse races ( turf ) or
other disciplines.
The origins
of equestrian sports are remote: already in Ancient Rome they were
very popular. At present, horse riding moves a large amount of moneythrough
betting and horse breeding.
Horse racing or
turf is one of the most famous equestrian sports. Generally thoroughbred
horses are involved that stand out for their speed. The competitions take
place in venues known as racecourses , which usually have an oval
track.
As in
any race , the objective of the competitors (the horses commanded by
riders who, in this context, are called jockeys) is to travel the predicted
distance in the shortest possible time, reaching the finish line before the
rivals. Punters who hit the winner receive a reward.
The dressage ,
the dressage and showjumping are other disciplines that are
part of racing. In all cases, the human being must forge a
special bond with the horse to meet the objectives of each test. It is
important to note that abuse should never be part of the relationship.
