Definition of Compact Disc
The notion
of disk can refer to a circular sheet that records
information. According to its characteristics, there are multiple types of
discs. It is called compact disc to an
optical disc
recorded digitally , capable of holding a large amount of data.
To
understand what a compact disc is, therefore, we must first know that an
optical
discis a disc in which the data is recorded and read through laser
beams . A compact disc, also known as compact disc or CD ,
is specifically an optical disc recorded digitally.
The compact
discs have a thickness of 1.2 millimeters and a diameter of 12centimeters.
These objects can contain documents , photographs , videos, audios and
other kinds of files. Its capacity is 700 MB of data or 80
minutes of audio. In its
origins,compact
discs were used for the storage and distribution of audio . The
artists, in this way, recorded their songs and commercialized them on these
discs, as they previously did on cassettesand further back in time ,
on vinyl records .
Over the
years, compact discs capable of storing other digital data emerged, and even
the possibility of recording CDs with almost any computer(computer) became
widespread . In this way, people started saving office documents,
photos, videos and other data on CDs. Currently,
due to the rise of cloud computing ( cloud computing ),
the streaming and USB drives , compact disc has lost
popularity.
