Definition of Home Automation
Home automation
is the set of techniques and systems that allow
achieving the
automation of the various facilities of a house . The
etymology of the term, in fact, includes the Latin word domus (which
translates as "house" ).
Home
automation not only helps increase well-being , it also provides greater
safety and helps save energy . Through these
systems you can link the different services and facilities of the house and
manage them remotely or automatically,
even from outside the building.
Home
automation is often associated with the concept of smart home . Its tools allow
controlling lighting, air conditioning and home security through sensors , detectors ,
actuators and communication
networks . By means of
the domótica, for example, it is possible to program an awning so
that it closes of automatic way when detecting solar rays.
With a
thermostat you can turn on or off the heating or air
conditioning , while the lights can also turn on or off at a
predetermined time (something that allows, among other things, the light of the
street door to turn on time at which the home owner usually arrives from work ).
In terms of
security, home automation makes it possible to install smoke detectors,
water, carbon monoxide, heat and movement , protecting the home from
possible fires, floods, gas leaks or intruders. These detectors are
connected to alarms that give notice of an incident and also to video cameras
that can be followed through the Internet .
