Definition
of Odorless
If someone
goes to the general dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy ( RAE )
to find the term odorless , you will not find it. However, the
concept is part of the Dictionary of Americanisms of the entity,
which recognizes its use in almost a dozen nations
It is an adjective that
qualifies what lacks odor. Odorless, therefore, can be used as a
synonym of toilet .
For
example: "This product, when dried, becomes odorless" , "There
are toxic gases that are odorless and that is why it is difficult to detect
them" , "To reduce inflammation of the muscle, the doctor
told me to use an odorless gel" .
It should be
noted that it is known as an odor to the sensation generated by an effluvium
in the nose . When something does not cause that kind of
impression, it has no fragrance or aroma: that is, it is odorless.
It is often
said that the water is inless , as well as insipid (tasteless)
and colorless (without color). In a strict sense, the statement
is true since pure water is made up of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom
and those molecules are odorless.
The water
that we drink, on the other hand, includes other substances in its composition,
usually minerals that confer diverse properties. In this way, it becomes a
product perceptible in different ways by the senses . Although
it may be difficult for us to identify the smell of water, it is not a really
odorless element.
Many times,
when certain foods are odorless or their smell is very faint, a flavoring
is added to make them more attractive or pleasing to
people. Smell is a sense that generates emotions and activates memories in
the human being .
