Definition of Unobjectionable
The unobjectionable is that
which can not be objected . The verbobjetar, in turn, refers
to impugn, rebut or contradict an opinion, a decision or a mandate .
For
example: "The triumph of the official candidate in the legislative
elections was unobjectionable" , "Real Madrid is an
unobjectionable champion since it showed a level much higher than all its
rivals" , "That the economic situation worsened in recent
months is unobjectionable " .
When
something is unobjectionable, in short, can not be denied or refuted with
reasons or arguments reliable and testable . If a filmhad a cost
of production of 2 million dollars and raised 15 million thanks
to the sale of tickets, it can be said that it was an unobjectionable success
from the commercial point of view. The figures show the profitability of
the film, so no one can argue that it failed in that regard.
Take the
case of basketball or basketball , to mention one
sport. If a team imposes itself to another by a difference of one point,
some may consider that it was an unfair triumph, since the difference was
minimal and could have been formed for random reasons, a particular error or a
specific play. On the other hand, if a team wins by 40 points of
difference, the victory is unobjectionable : nothing doubts the
superiority of the winner.
In certain
contexts, what is described as unobjectionable is actually subjective . A
musical critic can affirm that it is unobjectionable that the new disc of a
rock band is the best album of its production; for another
specialist, however, the disc in question is far from being the most valuable
of the group. Both assertions are subjective and, therefore,
objectionable.
